If Troyes is the city of ten bell towers, it is also the one with bright stained-glass windows. Its Cité du Vitrail, restored in the west wing of the Hôtel-Dieu-le-Comte, will open in 2022 with its recreated peaceful garden with flowerbeds and 51 lime trees, which is adjacent to it.It will be a pleasure to stroll around, even for people with reduced mobility.
Aube, with its 9,000 m2 of ancient stained-glass windows, has nearly a quarter of the surface area of French stained glass. For the time being, an inventory of 65 buildings out of the 350 listed has been made, giving rise to a free application to download to follow La route du Vitrail in the department.Â
.The Fine Arts and Archaeology Museum, the Natural History Museum (Saint-Loup), the Apothecary, the Vauluisant Museum, and the Modern Art Museum, which brings together paintings, sculptures, and glassware from the major currents of French art between 1850 and 1860, will constitute a museum pole to which will be added the European Centre Maille Mode Marques (CE3M) in the district of Vouldy, to preserve the memory of Troyes’ prestigious industry.
The Maison Rachi, with its synagogue, is an exceptional place to visit and discover with its unique resource centre. Guided tours are only available by reservation on 03 25 73 53 01.
New: A municipal electric bike rental service has been set up for short periods of time. You can rent «Le Marcel» (Bidot) to get around and wander in the city.
